The parents' influence on their artist children
Lynne Norton – enjoyed
constant support from her mother and father, Frank and Audrey Norton, both of
whom were accomplished artists in their own right.
In my case the major
influence was my mother with her passion for art deco and Shelley tea sets that
were imbued with stunning colour and design. As a result of my mother’s
exposed to an environment which showcased about colour, form, texture, design
collecting of fine ceramic objects which she placed around the house, I was

view that the narrative of the artwork never dominated. It was rather the
sensory enjoyment of these beautiful everyday functional objects. Hence I must
acknowledge that this exhibition is also, to some extent, about my experience
of mother's aesthetics and support.
